RESEARCH PROJECTS
Our Resource Centre is a valuable tool for students, teachers, and
other researchers. Housing books, periodicals, catalogues, and
other print material relating to photography, it also features a unique
slide file of artwork by more than 500 contemporary Canadian photographers.
Students may want to visit the Resource Centre individually or in
small groups, but visits must be arranged in advance to ensure staff
assistance. |
VISITS and TOURS
Visits to Gallery
44 are free of charge and are suitable for students of any age.
We encourage you to bring your class for an in-depth presentation
of the work that is on exhibit in the Main and Members' Galleries.
We engage the students in a discussion about the artists, the work
and how it was made. We can show you the range of our facilities
including the darkrooms, workshop area, Resource Centre, and more.
Please phone at least one week in advance to schedule your visit
and we will accommodate your interests and time requirements. Teachers
- please refer to our School Visit and Tour Policy below prior to
scheduling a visit.
Gallery
44 SCHOOL VISIT AND TOUR POLICY
School groups wanting a talk about Gallery 44 and exhibitions must
arrange this in advance by calling Gallery 44 at 416.979.3941.
Gallery hours are Tuesday Saturday from 11 am 5 pm.
Teachers are responsible for previewing the exhibition for any sensitive
content.
Information and selected images from our exhibitions are available
on our website at www.gallery44.org.
Maximum 25 students in the gallery at one time. If groups are larger,
please divide into two group visits.
Gallery 44 requires that there are 2 adults supervising the youth
while in the gallery
Please inform students of the following rules PRIOR to entering
Gallery 44:
Backpacks MUST be taken off and left at the door of the gallery
Please respect the artwork - NO leaning or touching the artwork
If gallery staff are giving the group a talk/tour, cell phones,
ipods and any other personal electronic device MUST be shut off
Gallery 44 reserves the right to ask a student or group to leave
as a result of inappropriate behavior
