About the Exhibition:

Going North: Stories from Canada’s Arctic

Covering more then 9 million square kilometres, Canada is the second largest country in the world and with more then 40% of our landmass in the Arctic, we truly are a northern nation. Unfortunately, it is a part of our country often overlooked and ignored, a place few Canadians visit despite its incredible wonders. As John Ralston Saul writes in The Comeback: “Let me take this argument down to the most basic level. We southerners tell ourselves that we want to travel east, west, south. Not north… Ask most Canadians: Have you been to the Arctic? A look of panic.”

This exhibition features the work of three photographers, who have each journeyed to separate and remote areas across Canada’s north. In their own way, each artist shows how unique each space is and the powerful impact they have on those privileged enough to inhabit them.
