Fong: Corpus Interna With an essay by Yam Lau and an interview by Sara Angelucci Eric Fong was born in Hong Kong and completed medical school in Canada. Throughout his years as a physician, Fong has pursued a parallel artistic practice which examines many of the issues which concern him as a doctor: Western culture’s mind/body split, technological advances in prognosis and treatment, and the fragmented nature of bodily exploration and treatment. Building mixed media sculptures using stainless-steel light boxes, and human bones, Fong’s work approximates medical research models, inciting questions on the nature of medical research, and its impact on our understanding of the human body. 36 p., 26 ill., (4 col.), 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 in $10.00 + GST Gallery 44 publications
